The effect of snakehead fish extract on acute wound healing process in hyperglycemic rats

Introduction: Wound healing is an integrated response to tissue injury. A hyperglycemic state can lead delayed wound process. Snakehead fish (Channa striata) native freshwater of South East Asia that contains high protein, albumin, and several micronutrients. The aim this study evaluate the efficacy snakehead extract on acute process in streptozotocin-induced rats. Methods: This was experimental trial animal model. Thirty male Wistar rats were divided into two groups which then given (Pujimin Plus®) 81mg a day for 10 days after infliction intervention group carboxymethyl cellulose sodium (Na-CMC) control group. On 0, 3, infliction, histological changes (number neutrophil fibroblast, vascular wounded tissues) each analyzed. Assessments also made erythema crust formation by visual scores. Results: Our showed significant increase number fibroblasts 3 compared (40.33 ± 10.13 vs. 24.60 10.25, p =0.04). There no differences vasculature numbers. results could decrease mean score (3.24 0.25 3.64 0.35) decreased 5 (3.36 0.75 vs 3.44 0.83). Conclusions: has potential effect accelerate increasing decreasing erythema, rats.
